Demetrios Veltsistas, designer and exclusive importer of Lapponia houses to Greece with his company Grammi Grammi since 2002, has been studying and realising over the last seven years new solutions for planning and mounting Lapponia thermolog houses in Greece.
One of the many designs Demetrios has created is the thermolog wooden house with stone siding. On the detail photo you can see a thermolog house mounted in Greece. Here you see how optically there is the sensation that the walls include massive stone, but in fact it is a thin stone material of only a few cm in strength. The outside wall elements are prefabricated in factory Kemi in Finland as in our standard thermolog houses, just the siding is left away. Demetrios has locally designed the solution of combining the stone siding with Lapponia thermolog wall elements. Also the siding and a few other materials are purchased in Greece. The solutions that Demetrios has applied mean that the outside walls function as with panel siding, i.e. the walls are well ventilated and are technically sound. 
In many countries around the world there are regions where local authorities demand some or all of siding to be in stone, brick or plaster. Sometimes it is the clients who desire to have part or all of the siding in stone or other material than wood. For these reasons Lapponia House Oy is pleased to present Grammi Grammi’s Greek examples of the flexibility and wide range of possibilities in realising thermolog houses. Furthermore, Demetrios Veltsistas studied important details such as placement of aluminum rollers (ALUMINIUM ROLLERS klikataan ja aukeaa kuva roller.jpg) (a necessity in southern European regions with long sun exposure and protection against criminal elements), mosquito netting rollers, placement of light concrete on bathroom flooring in upper levels, a special shock-proof base for wooden flooring on concrete bases, etc..
These first structures were realized in Greece and this is how a beautiful project was kicked off and realised, the Hotel Kastanea – www.kastanea.gr - in St. Nicholas, Evritanias. It was constructed in collaboration of the designer Demetrios and LH. The result is amazing. The bioclimactic wall structure of LH blends well with the stone, the plaster and the appearance of the surrounding area. So, now we know that on LH wall structures we may, almost without limitations, use materials following traditional as well as modern architecture.
